Matthew Robinson
Playwright /Composer /Lyricist
A graduate of WAAPA ’s Music Theatre degree, Matthew was
awarded the Pratt Prize for Music Theatre for his first musical
Metro Street. He has toured Australia in the self-penned
cabaret pieces Immaculate Confection, Metrosexual and Kiss
Kiss Bang Bang, and contributed songs to The Windows
Project (ATYP), OzMade Musicals (Federation Square,
Melbourne) and the Off Broadway revue Get Here (York
Theater Company, N.Y.C.). With Lucy Durack, he received the
Judges’ Award at the 2003 Sydney Cabaret Convention and
his independent debut album Radio is currently available
through Middle 8 Music.
As a performer,Matthew’s major credits include Freddy
Eynsford-Hill in My Fair Lady (Opera Australia), the title role in Pippin (Kookaburra), Teague in God’s Last Acre (Playbox),
the original Australian cast of Mamma Mia! (Dainty) and
appearances on Stingers, Blue Heelers, The Singing Office
(Fox 8), A Most Deadly Family (Village Roadshow), and the
Tom Hanks/Steven Spielberg teleseries The Pacific. Matthew
will next appear as Henrik in A Little Night Music for Opera
Australia.
Matthew’s current writing projects are the revue Sing On
Through Tomorrow and his second book musical. He would
